Textbook Repair Services

Mrs. Nelson’s offers a low-cost textbook repair service for your existing damaged books. Our bindery is capable of bringing your most battered books back to new condition for a fraction of the cost of buying new or used textbooks.

Binding Services:
• New covers are created using a scan from an existing textbook in good condition. Further enhancements are made in Photoshop to remove any blemishes. When touch-up is complete, full-color prints are made using our wide format printer. The cover is then laminated with a durable 1.7 mil nylon fiber film. Library corners will be used on the covers to protect against split or frayed corners.

• Upon your request, each book will be inspected to flatten any dog-eared pages and mark the missing pages. Missing pages can be replaced by using pages from a donated textbook or by making color copies from a textbook in good condition.

• The outside edges of the books will be trimmed 1/8th of an inch to remove any graffiti or discoloration.

• New end sheets are used to reinforce the book block and to provide a clean Property Box on the front inside cover. Pages are reinforced using heavy-duty wire stitching and a cold-meld glue on the spine.

• Because most textbooks break along the hinge of the book cover, we recommend adding a strip of cloth mesh to reduce the amount of tearing. A dense backer board will be used on the cover to reduce bending and increase the life of the book.
